Our Lady’s Nursery is a purpose built, state of the art, open planned spacious new building, with a roof garden, that caters for 76 children aged between six months and five years.
The site for the new nursery school was on open waste ground, used as an informal car park, at the rear of two-storey terraced houses.
Our design intent for the nursery was to:
– make a well-functioning, “nurturing” nursery school to replace the sub-standard portacabin accommodation on an adjacent site, that had been used for 40 years.
– make a bright, colourful and welcoming building at the heart of the community it serves.
– design a secure building that does not look defensive or aggressive
– make the most of the sun, and to improve the microclimate of outdoor play areas.
