Parknasillogue, Enniskerry

Located in Parknasillogue, Enniskerry, the scheme of 25 dwellings is based on the principle of traditional farmyard clusters. Rather than applying a suburban layout, the design interprets vernacular settlement patterns in a contemporary way. Terraces typically run east to west across the site, with single storey homes stepping up to two storey structures at the end of terraces to define open spaces.

The composition creates a sequence of informal courtyards and sheltered public spaces. Curved roof semi detached infill blocks add variety and enclosure between the main terraces, while contemporary vernacular forms help the development sit comfortably in its rural setting. The layout gives priority to people and shared space rather than allowing car parking to dominate.

Environmental comfort is carefully considered throughout the scheme. South facing dwellings are shallow in plan to avoid exclusively north facing rooms, improving daylight and liveability. Planting, landscaping, microclimate and parking are all handled as part of the overall design strategy, producing a compact but generous residential environment with a strong sense of place.
