Designing for a
Sustainability and carbon reduction embedded in every design decision.
We are passionate about reducing embodied carbon in construction and have a strong understanding of how this can be achieved through its direct application on live projects. Our in-house team includes experienced specialists with the expertise and practical knowledge needed to support the successful delivery of your project and its sustainability objectives.
Sustainability and performance as key design drivers.
How we deliver low carbon outcomes.
01
Achieving regulatory environmental goals
We are progressing towards ZEB and capped carbon targets, with practical insights gained through a national housing programme aligned with the RIAI 2030 Climate Challenge.
02
Knowledge exchange across design codes
We have specialist expertise in low-carbon design. Lessons from our Low Carbon Bridge project are now being applied to building projects to help reduce whole-life carbon while meeting performance requirements.
03
Upcycling and dismantle ability
Where feasible, we prioritise material reuse. Our experience includes reusing timber joists at York Street, Dublin, and upcycled timber pallets to construct a temporary theatre for the meanwhile-use urban park at Granby Park, Dublin
04
Director specialism
We take sustainable design seriously. Our Practice Directors Gavin and Anna hold advanced postgraduate qualifications in sustainability, which informs our high-performing, sustainable projects.
Competition winning low carbon bridge, Lower Thames, UK
This competition-winning proposal for a pioneering bridge over a dual carriageway, designed in collaboration with Arup, achieves an A++ whole-life carbon rating under the SCORS assessment framework. The design eliminates concrete entirely, delivering exceptionally low embodied carbon while meeting demanding performance and durability requirements.
The bridge combines sustainability with elegance, expressing each structural element clearly. The tetrapod pier is formed from repurposed steel tubular offcuts, supported by removable steel screw-pile foundations that support future disassembly and reuse. Glulam beams are protected through an innovative floating deck system, with generous overhangs and natural ventilation ensuring long-term durability without compromising the bridge’s low-carbon credentials.
